Privacy Policy

Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Association (hereinafter referred to as the ‘Association’) handles the personal information of persons who view our website or participate in the events organised by the Association (hereinafter referred to as ‘Users’). The Association considers it its important responsibility to manage personal information appropriately and has prescribed the privacy policy as follows and will manage and handle personal information in accordance with this policy. 

1. Name, address and representative of the Association

2. Acquisition and use of personal information

The Association obtains personal information after notifying or announcing the purpose of use to the extent necessary to achieve the purposes of use. The Association does not handle any personal information exceeding the scope necessary to achieve the purpose of use. 

2-1. Personal Information

The Association will obtain the following personal information: 

  •  Name, email address, occupation, company or organisation, region (country) 
  •  Inquiries to the Association, responses to the questionnaire surveys 

In any of the above cases, the Association shall only collect information that has been provided by the persons themselves. 

2-2. Purposes of use of personal information

The Association will obtain and use personal information within the scope of the following purposes: 

  • Sending out information on the events organized by the Association or on the publications, or any other related information 
  • Operating and managing the events
  • Conducting questionnaire surveys 

3. Provision of personal data to third parties

The Association does not disclose or provide the User’s personal information to a third party without the User’s consent except for cases where disclosure or provision is based on laws and regulations or where cooperation with public organisations is required. 

4. Security control measures for retained personal data

To ensure the appropriate handling of personal information, the Association takes the following measures to prevent leakage, loss or damage of personal data or otherwise control personal data safely: 

  • Establishment of the person(s) responsible for the handling of personal data, clarifying which employees are to handle the personal data, as well as the scope of personal data to be handled by the said employees.  
  • Implementation of measures such as preventing employees who do not have the authority to handle personal data from viewing personal data.  
  • Implementation of measures such as access controls and introduction of mechanisms to protect the information system that handles personal data from malware or unauthorised software.  

5. Cookies

The Association uses Cookies on the website to provide better services to its Users. Cookies are small text files that are delivered to the User’s device from the web server when the User views a website and is stored by their browser. Cookies serve to enhance the usability and functionality of the website and enable the Association to improve the website. Cookies identify the User’s browser but do not directly identify an individual. 

Users can choose to show the notice on the website that the website is using cookies, disable cookies or delete stored cookies by modifying their browser settings. Please note that Users may not be able to use all functions of the website if they refuse to accept the use of cookies or delete cookies. 

(a) Google Analytics 

The Association uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, on the website. Google uses cookies to facilitate analysis of the Users’ use of the website. Google will use the information generated by the cookies about the Users for the purpose of evaluating the Users’ use of the website. The Association will receive the result of the analysis on the User’s use of the website to understand access status and utilise it to improve the Association’s service on the website. (b) Social plugins 

The Association integrates buttons (hereinafter referred to as ‘Buttons’) for sharing content on certain social media websites on the website. By activating (clicking on) the Buttons, a connection will be established to the social media website selected by the User and the provider of the social media website can comprehensively analyse your data. A click on Buttons, therefore, means that the User gives their consent to the transfer of their data. If the User does not agree to the transfer of their data such as User ID, the website visited, etc. to the providers of the social media websites, please do not click the Buttons. Please note that if the User visits a website while they are logged in to a social media website, their data may be transmitted automatically to the social media website even without clicking the Buttons.

6. Requests of disclosure, etc. and complaints

7. The Association may revise this privacy policy as necessary, and if it revises this policy, it will inform the Users to that effect on the website.
